About Brekhus Client Projects Technology |
Glenwood Springs Bath HouseBrekhus Tile & Stone was recently selected to renovate the Glenwood Springs bathhouse. The first historic bath house was built in 1890 out of red sandstone. It was a magnificent building designed by Austrian architect Theodore Von Rosenberg, and intended to cater to the wealthy inhabitants of Glenwood Springs. At a cost of $100,000 it was easily the most expensive building on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. No expense was spared on the inside of the original bathhouse which featured luxurious imported mosaic tiles, Roman baths and "vapor pools." Fast forward to 2005, and Glenwood Springs owners are hoping to restore the existing bath house so that it reflects a bit of the luxurious tradition of the first Glenwood Springs resort. Brekhus Tile & Stone was chosen to carry out the rennovations, replacing floors, walls and showers, and installing high-quality detailed decorative tile. Brekhus took an innovative approach to the job that will save more than $100,000. Instead of ripping out the old tile floors, Brekhus is using the existing flooring as a strong, even bed. New tile has been set on top of the old, a job that would not have been possible without the use of recently developed high-tech materials. The walls have been redone with spectacular decorations, and the shower areas have been restored to a clean, sharp, upscale look.
