YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Field/Material Handling/Fabrication  |  This position requires working with stone cutting and polishing equipment that require personal protective equipment to be worn, including hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The duties of this job are performed in either machine shop and/or at jobsites, thereby experiencing moderate level of noise due to machine equipment.  Some position requires traveling between jobsites and Brekhus when needed. Brekhus requires all employees who drive their personnel or a company vehicle in the routine performance of their jobs to have a valid Driver’s License. They must also provide proof of valid insurance. May require extended hours to meet customer’s needs.

Office  |   This position requires working in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, use of computer equipment, reach, kneel, climb, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Available Positions

TILE INSTALLER

The Tile Installer’s primary responsibility will be the installation of custom tile in residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities 

  • You can measure, mark, clean, and level surfaces to be tiled (following project plans, blueprints or numbered sequences).
  • Remove old flooring and adhesive when needed.
  • Mix thin set, mortar, adhesive, and grout
  • Apply adhesives to form a bed for the tiles using brush, trowel, and/or screed; attach lath or waterproof paper or apply cement mortar coat onto a metal screen.
  • Apply grouting, caulk, sealants, or other agents to installed surfaces; grouting between joints.
  • Cutting and/or or shape tile or stone to specified sizes for installation, using power saws or tile cutters.
  • Move or position materials – as required by the job specifications.
  • Seek work order clarification from the Superintendent and can communicate effective daily progress to Field Superintendent, including continuous communications as necessary for scheduling purposes.
  • Complete time cards accurately and on-time and attend meetings and training sessions as assigned by senior management.
  • Work professionally with fellow employees, management, customers and contractors.
  • Utilize and maintain all tools and machines according to company policy.
  • Transport materials, tools, and machines to installation sites when needed.
  • Erect scaffolding and/or other installation structures when needed.
  • Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook, Company Safety and Health rules, OSHA regulations, and all other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Other tasks as instructed by management.

Requirements 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience of installing tiles (ceramic, marble, granite, etc.), laying out work, repairing and tile patching, preparing sub-surfaces, sealing surfaces, waterproofing, caulking, and grouting.
  • Working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the installation of tile, stone and granite.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, math calculations (measuring, addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, ratios, percentages, dimensions, basic algebra, geometry, and their applications), oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to perform physical activities pertaining to the essential functions of the position: Requires considerable use of arms/legs and moving of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, carrying and lifting 50-100lbs.
  • Detail and task-oriented, dependable, and professional.

FABRICATOR

The Fabricator can polish, edge, and finish stone products according to Brekhus quality standards.

Responsibilities 

  • Safe operation of tools,
  • Router custom stone profiles; shape, trim, or touch up roughed-out design with appropriate tools to finish the product and can drill or cut into stone; verifying depths and dimension of cuts and finishes.
  • Maintain production in accordance with the design specifications, time/completion schedules, quality standards, and employee safety.
  • Reface and repair stone.
  • Attend and participate in schedule meetings and/or trainings as required by management.
  • Adhere to all Company Safety and Health rules, Employee Handbook, and OSHA regulations while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Other related duties as required and assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience fabricating natural stone countertops.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with hand and power tools for stone fabrication.
  • Knowledge on stone material Handling
  • General geological knowledge as applied to granite, marble, and quartz preferred.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., eye glasses, noise reducing equipment, waterproof gear, and steel toe shoes).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with clients and employees both verbally and written in the English language.
  • Ability to perform all types of edge work on stone; hone and refinish polished faces.
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings; cut or shape stone according to drawings and/or templates.
  • Ability to perform basic and complex geometric and algebraic mathematical computations. It also requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, bar graphs, ratios and proportions to complex and practical situations.
  • General and practical knowledge of measuring tools, power tools, and equipment utilized in the tile and stone industry.
  • Willingness to adapt to and accept constructive feedback and implement necessary corrections in a timely manner.
  • Ability to push, pull, and carry materials 50-100 lbs. and prolonged standing.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new duties/responsibilities as necessary to respond to fluctuating work hours driven by project/production needs.
  • Able to provide and encourage positive attitude of cooperation and collaboration with management and other team members
  • Forklift driving experience preferred.

MATERIAL HANDLER/DRIVER

The Material Handler/Driver is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the loading/unloading, storing, tracking and distributing of products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment for BMG. Pulls and fills orders. May use (but not limited to) power equipment such as a forklift, hand tools, and other devices operated in a warehouse environment. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Examines, stocks, and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.

SALES DESIGN CONSULTANT

The Sales Design Consultant serves as a sales representative of Brekhus Tile and Stone during the sales, design, and construction phases of a project. Responsible for managing customer projects from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

  • Greet walk-in customers, field phone inquiries, and online inquiries.
  • Provide initial introduction to the company and services available.
  • Support multiple customers simultaneously and in a timely manner and support team members courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate supervisor and showroom teammates to ensure showroom coverage during store operation hours.
  • Meet sales quotas and increase revenue from established customers.
  • Generate sales revenue from new customers
  • Maintain slab yard
  • Initiate sales and provide on-going support for customers throughout each stage of projects
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in the tile & slab industry
  • Provide expert consultation in the design of a project that meets the needs of our clients.
  • Demonstrate proactive, professional, and effective communication in collaborating with team members and clients.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with new and past clients.
  • Responsible for administrative duties
  • Submit recommendations and suggestions to management designed to improve sales, efficiency, or operations of the department or the company.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years previous experience in Tile & Stone Sales required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
  • General knowledge and understanding of design principles.
  • Must be a professional, responsible self-starter
  • Knowledge of SAGE100 project management system is a preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in using On-Screen Takeoffs and reading blueprints a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

JR. PROJECT MANAGER

The Jr. Project Manager aids with project management, including creating take-offs, written proposals and maintaining documents with revisions and updates. Assists and coordinates project function and assigned by the Project Manager and responds to customer related inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and engineering drawings, interpret conditions, and analyze field conditions to ensure pricing consistent with risk encountered and profit opportunity offered.
  • Coordinate and track department jobs and projects, including maintaining records and documents.
  • Obtaining necessary documentation to initiate job.
  • Create and update estimates and job orders.
  • Assist in coordinating of all aspects of projects. Perform small measures, including customer contact, taking measurements, and developing plans and drawings.
  • Maintain project files.
  • Receive and respond in a timely manner to customer related inquiries.
  • Work with Scheduling to coordinate template and install scheduling.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Requirement

  • Requires minimum 2 years prior experience in construction junior project management or a similar role.
  • Experience in tile & stone industry required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/related field or the equivalent in experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, blueprints, schematics, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines, solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout this state and surrounding states.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Dependable and reliable, and able to work flexible hours and overtime.
  • Good communication skills with a good command of the English language. Ability to write effective reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

SR. PROJECT COORDINATOR

The Sr. Project Coordinator assists project managers with commercial and residential projects with a high level of proficiency and self-drive. Performs duties to assist in customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating commercial and residential jobs
  • Assist Jr. Project Manager(s) and Project Managers with project demands.
  • Work cooperatively and enthusiastically toward the company goals and directives
  • Performs administrative and office support activities
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Create job orders and estimates using SAGE100
  • Project material ordering/invoicing
  • Coordinate projects through completion
  • Manage time efficiently to meet and exceed deadlines to ensure availability for additional projects
  • Interpret construction documents and drawings
  • Coordinate and work with Sales Design Consultants to support customer service
  • Manage slab inventory
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ construction administrative experience
  • Tile & Stone industry experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with SAGE100 Project Management accounting system preferred
  • Current and clean driver’s license required
  • Must have and maintain a clean federal background
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints
  • Ability to inquire and follow-up on job leads, materials and orders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be self-motivated with a sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure
